Hello from INDIA!

HELLO FROM INDIA!!  For some reason I am finding it difficult to get a new blog started from here, so for now I am going to post from my old 30 before 30 blog that I started 30 days prior to turning 30, and promptly abandoned it once I hit the big 30 :).  The name of my new blog was supposed to be "For the Love".  Below is my first post.  I will try my best to post often!

"Why is it that it takes me forever to get something started? I don't consider myself a perfectionist but for some reason it took me 2 days just to come up with a blog name. "For the Love" for now is a personal blog of my experiences in life. Some funny with a dose of sarcasm because I like to keep it real, as well as some wonderful experiences I am bound to have in the next 8 months. So, in some posts you will get the feel "For the Love! WTF am I doing in India?!", or you will get "For the Love...this place is amazing with BEAUTIFUL and KIND people".

I am so excited to finally blog about all the happenings of the past few days! Most of you that are reading this know that I decided to go volunteer in India until this November. Coming to the decision to spend 8 months in India came really quickly for me...unlike most other decisions I have made in my life. I usually have to weigh all my options, and considering it took me a couple of days to even come up with a blog name, you can probably imagine how long normal decisions take! But for some reason, coming to India just felt right and I jumped on the opportunity to come out here. And I am SO happy I did! Granted, it's only been a few days, but already I have felt such love from the people here. The Indian people are so sweet and generous. And the kids...OMG(yeah i just omg'd) are so cute! So far they are the best part about all of this.

I am volunteering for an organization called Rising Star Outreach www.risingstaroutreach.org. The people we work with either have or have had leprosy, and many of their children come to the Rising Star school for their education.   This is a great school and these kids are very lucky and blessed to be able to go here.  I will touch more on what goes on throughout my time here, but that gives you an idea."

Now time for the best part - PHOTOS!

This is Hari (the little guy I sponsor) and G. Devi his friend.  She says she is his sister, but the other kids said she's not.  I'm not sure who to believe yet :)

This is Nishanti.  She's a sweetheart! She showed me how to make little things out of the mango leaves my first day here.

Crazy boys.  Don't pay attention to my sweaty, bloated looking self in this picture.  My body is finally adjusting better to the heat and all the traveling, but whoah what I feeling large and in charge the first few days!

I will post more later!  love jules

30 and 1 day old...the party didn't stop

You would think after such a busy month I would have taken a day off after my bday...but Kim found some cheap tickets to see John Legend play in Stockton...of all places. The tickets were actually for the screening of the documentary "Waiting for Superman", that's about the messy public school system. It's a pretty informative flick. John is going around promoting that documentary. After the movie we were promised a performance by him. We were thinking that probably meant he was gonna play 1 or 2 songs, but JOHN BROUGHT IT! He played at least 10 songs...and he was AMAZING. That is an understatement. If you ever get a chance to see him, don't question it, just do it!

It was a great night with great friends yet again!

I also caved and bought this T-shirt. I know, I know...another t-shirt. But come on! Look how awesome it is!

herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag!

THE BIG 30!!!!
Yes people, it finally arrived!
I am officially 30 and four days young :)
To celebrate I went with friends to a German restaurant called Suppenkuche in SF. http://suppenkuche.com/
Not only was the atmosphere hoppin but the food was delicious! I mean HELLO, look at the size of that pretzel!

The whole table loved it, but I think Callie and I ate at least 1/2 of it on our own

Nom nom nom

My friends (or should I call them friends after they made me wear this?) made me wear this headband. But I didn't wear it while I was walking in the restaurant to our table mainly because I felt silly, and because there were a ton of cute guys in that place and I couldn't have them knowing I am a senior citizen! A cougar's gotta do what a cougar's gotta do.

We tried to convince Tim to order the boot of beer...cause they serve it in a really cool glass boot, but I guess there was just too much beer in it for him to handle!
I had some apple drink. It was kinda good...but really simple, just apple juice and seltzer water.

YUMMMMMM

My dearest friends gave me some black grannie panties for my birthday. Pretty hot, right?

How convenient that this bar was right next to our restaurant!
Well, my dirty thirties have officially started! I'd say they are off to a great start.
And as for MY LIST. I will go ahead and say right now that I accomplished 99% of my goals. I think that is pretty darn good.
It's been a fantastic month and I got so much done that I have been wanting to do! But, it's soooo nice right now not to have my mind running in circles of what I need to do next. I am taking a break for a little bit to reboot, but I will probably start another list...or just think of something else just as cool to blog about :)

Feeling accomplished! ... and exhausted

Some of you may have wondered how my spray tan turned out. See for yourselves!
So, when the tanning salon lady said to put the "barrier cream" on my feet before I got in the tanning spray booth, I probably should have done a better job of it. But I got confused!
It looks like I have HOBBIT FEET! Minus the hair of course... And isn't this pic a lovely angle?

The night of my Bday me and a few friends went to SF for the Jimmy Eat World concert at the Warfield. I would write lots more about it, but I am rocking a 2 day long headache (playing soccer in the blazing sun yesterday did not help!), so I'll keep it short and let you just look at the pics.
Never a dull picture with kim

Plaid!

They sounded sooo good live!!

Kim and I almost moshing with all the white boys at this concert. It was like a white boy in plaid shirt convention.
Also, my fake tan makes me look like I have Jaundis, or that I ate too many carrots. Oh well, what can ya do!

These cute little young boys in front of us kept creeping farther and farther back until I was pretty much sitting on the garbage can behind me. Literally pinned in a corner...or a garbage can for that matter.

The guitarist looked like a way cuter version of Carson Daly

Look at how dark my ankles are! haha. Maybe its just my white cons.

One of the best Birthday's ever! And there is more blogging to come regarding that, but I am so sick of this freaking headache. I just took 2 Midol PM's because that's the only PM pills I had. Whatever works!

"I'm Bright Orange and I Like Lasagna"

Tonight I went for my very first ever spray tan! The tanning solution hasn't fully set in my skin yet. I am supposed to wait 4 - 8 hours before showering... (at first I thought the lady said i had to wait 48 hours before showering and thank goodness I didn't hear her correctly cause that is gross!).

Anyway, so tomorrow morning I will be able to see if I turn out like any of these people:

[Ross going to get a spray-on-tan at a salon]

The Tanning Salon Guy: Alright Mr. Gellar, right this way. So, how dark do you want to be? We have 1, 2, or 3.

Ross: Well uh, I like how you look, what are you?

The Tanning Salon Guy: Puerto Rican.

Ross: Two, I think, a two.

The pre-tan photo shoot. Is that the camera's flash?! Oh wait, that's just my pasty white complexion.

This picture below is almost how I felt in that spray tan booth! It was a little scary...but I actually started laughing cause it seemed so weird to be getting sprayed in a small booth wearing a shower cap and my nakedness. I tried not to laugh though, so I didn't get laugh lines from the spray.

If I don't look like a total orange disaster tomorrow maybe I'll post some pics of my tan. Otherwise just use your imagination and picture me probably looking like Ross.

Channeling Jackson Pollock

For a while Callie and I have talked about putting something up on our big blank wall in our living room, and right when I decided to do my 30 before 30 we figured nothing would be cooler than painting our own canvas!

I don't know why I try to do these awkward sexy poses. I need help.

Callie getting to work!

We really didn't have a system, we just went for it. I think that was the best part about it! We talked about what we thought would look good as we painted, but we kind of just let it happen.

It took us a minute to figure out what color we wanted in the middle

And we decided on Orange with some bright yellow splatters!

The final product.
I feel like this is Callie and my love child! haha. Well, as close to a love child as we would ever get. But really, it was a fun roommate thing to do, and we both LOVE how it turned out!! Maybe I am just partial because we had so much fun painting it, and because it's ours, but don't you think it looks awesome!?

Sitting proud

No more space to paint on the canvas? Not to worry

I am special
